Nestled in the Selkirk mountains of northern Idaho above the lakeside resort town of Sandpoint, Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers great amenities and a natural setting that caters to the outdoor enthusiast. Above all, we are known for our genuine people and down-to-earth vibe that keeps our guests and staff coming back year after year.
Established in 1963 as a single-lift ski area, Schweitzer has steadily grown in size and reputation over the decades, and today can be found in “best of” lists from Skiing, Transworld Snowboarding, and more – and our summer resort business is up-and-coming. Hosting multiple NORBA national championship series as well as regional mountain-biking events, weddings, corporate events, summer adventure day camps and plenty of outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, huckleberry picking and more, the opportunities for an awesome work-and-play summer lifestyle at Schweitzer abound.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort’s summer operations include hotel, food & beverage, lift operations, bike rental & repair, as well as all the administrative, maintenance, sales, & marketing roles that chug along year-round. You'll find a current list of our job openings on our website.
While we aren’t able to provide housing for our staff, being in a resort community offers a wide variety of housing options – and our Employee Services staff is happy to give advice and information should you be offered a position. From homes to condos to apartments – even yurts, tipis, and converted school buses – if you can think of it, someone here is probably living in it. There are many property management companies in Sandpoint that are great resources for your housing questions – though they don’t typically list the yurts, tipis and busses.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers a competitive health, dental and life insurance package as well as a 401k with matching for year-round positions.
All positions (seasonal or year-round) are eligible for the following perks & privileges:
Sandpoint is located smack-dab in the middle of Highway 95, the main north-south highway in Idaho. Also US Hwy 2, coming from Seattle, and Hwy 200 coming from Montana. Sandpoint is about 1 hour North of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, which is right on Interstate 90. The resort itself is about 10 miles (20 minutes) up into the mountains above Sandpoint.
Closest major-carrier airport is Spokane, WA (GEG). Rental cars available. Approx. 2 hour drive from the airport to Sandpoint. Next-closest major airport is Seattle (SEA). Sandpoint is about 6 hours from Seattle by car. If you have your own small aircraft, Sandpoint does have an airport.
Sandpoint has an Amtrak station. A great option if you don’t mind arriving at midnight. Amtrack
Combine one of North America’s top ski resorts (Skiing Reader’s Poll 2008) with Idaho’s largest, deepest lake (Lake Pend Orielle), and put one of America’s best small towns (Sandpoint) sandwiched in between, then surround with thousands of acres of public land – that’s us. Could it be you, too?
We’ll be honest: if you’re looking for a big-resort, glitz-and-glamour scene – this isn’t your place. Schweitzer and Sandpoint are still undiscovered gems (for now), and while we love the praise heaped upon us by Sunset, National Geographic Adventure, the New York Times, Outside magazine, and many others – we don’t mind that the Hollywood crowd hasn’t really found us yet.
If, on the other hand, you love resort work as well as everything that two mountain-ranges, a cool small town (with two breweries, three wine bars, a winery, three bike shops, two kayak shops, several marinas and dozens of restaurants), sandy beaches and 45+ mile-long Lake Pend Orielle have to offer, we might be just what you’ve been looking for.
